Bespoke Shoe Stands for a new collaboration.
Loake embarked on a new project to enhance the presentation of their shoes in stores for an upcoming product launch. As a renowned British footwear brand, known for its exceptional craftsmanship and stylish designs, the objective was to create high-quality footwear displays for the ‘Barbour by Loake’ collaboration. They required an elegant display solution to showcase the two brands coming together. To achieve this, Loake partnered with Merit Display in order to provide a bespoke display that would help the brand stand out.
Loake wanted displays that would not only showcase the footwear effectively but also align with the branding of the new range. The strong heritage of the brand and the fact that it is well known for attention to detail, meant it was crucial for the displays to reflect the same level of craftsmanship and quality. The project required a combination of functionality, style, and attention to material selection to achieve the right balance.
The Process
Merit Display was tasked with creating bespoke footwear stands that met Loake’s high standards and helped elevate the customer experience. After several discussions with Loake, our design team at Merit Display considered many factors before finalising the displays:
- Material Selection: The displays were crafted using solid oak to echo Loake’s natural aesthetic and match their vision, with attention paid to the use of natural materials. The team carefully selected timber of a grain density and tone to closely match the existing Loake displays used in their stores and consessions.
- Engraving Detail: To match the branding and graphic elements, Merit Display went through many variations of engraving on the base of the stands to ensure it complemented the oak and was perfectly on brand.
- Flexible: The finished displays also had to be very flexible to take all styles of shoe from brogues to sneakers and be completely adjustable for both height and display angle. The Merit Team designed a bespoke mechanism to do just that and used a delightful knurled adjustment knob as a nod to the Loake heritage.
The Solution
In the end, the newly designed shoe stands exceeded Loake’s expectations in both functionality and design. The oak displays were a perfect match for Loake’s retail environment, bringing a natural, sophisticated feel to the stores. The attention to detail in both the choice of materials and the engraving added to the sense of luxury, ensuring that the footwear stood out in a stylish way.
The Outcome
The collaboration between Loake and Merit Display was a success. The custom-designed footwear displays exceeded expectations in terms of both design and delivery. Merit Display’s ability to work closely with the Loake team to select materials, ensure a seamless match with the brand’s identity, and deliver on time, helped Loake achieve a seamless product launch.
